NEWPORT — Four people sustained injuries in a Saturday car crash, with two occupants in critical but stable condition at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
On Sept. 12, Newport police and fire officials responded to the area of 72 Breakneck Road around 10 p.m. following a collision report. At the scene, emergency personnel located a heavily damaged Cadillac CT5 off the side of the road, according to Newport police.
All four occupants of the vehicle required treatment at the scene and were transported to the hospital with serious bodily injuries.
Two adult occupants remained in critical condition, still receiving medical care as of Monday afternoon, Newport police said.
One juvenile occupant is listed as stable, and another has since been released from the hospital. Police named the 19-year-old driver of the Cadillac, a Newport resident, but said they will not identify the passengers at this time.
Law enforcement is investigating the factors that led to the collision, including speed and possible impairment. Newport Police Chief Alex Lee confirmed Monday by phone that no charges have been issued at this time.
