Reelect Benson for Vt. State Senate
I’m writing to endorse Republican Vt. State Sen. John Benson, of Brookfield, Vt., in his campaign for election as Senator from Orange County. I have known and worked with John for more than 50 years as both a co-worker and partner in the engineering firm of DuBois & King, Inc., in Randolph, and then as a DuBois & King, Inc. consultant on various redevelopment projects for the City of Barre during my twelve 12 year tenure as Barre City Manager.
John is highly regarded by his peers, having been selected as the Vermont Engineer of the Year in 2018. He has demonstrated expertise in civil engineering, with specific expertise in land-use regulation having specialized in Act 250 and permitting in general during his substantial development project consulting career while at DuBois and King, Inc.
In my judgment, he has demonstrated a moderate approach to issues and consciously examines the pros and cons of various issues before taking a position.
He understands first-hand the budget and operational challenges facing Town governments in Vermont. Just as importantly, John is a personable individual who is very approachable. Based on his past professional and public service, I am confident that John will serve his constituents in his Orange County District with distinction.
