New Hampshire State Police arrested an Epsom woman Saturday morning after a multi-town pursuit along Interstate 89 that ended near Warner and closed the southbound lanes of the highway.
Officers with the Lebanon Police Department initially attempted to make a traffic stop on a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Dawn Marquis, 55, according to New Hampshire State Police said. At 8:36 a.m., state troopers learned that the driver of the Cherokee had fled from the officers and a pursuit ensued.
The vehicle continued south on I-89 as Lebanon officers broke off their pursuit. A little later, a Granthan police officer spotted the vehicle and tried to conduct a traffic stop. When the stop failed again, State Police joined the pursuit.
Police deployed a deflation device, which punctured one of the Jeep’s tires. The chase ended near Exit 9 in Warner, but the driver refused to leave the car, police said. The interstate was temporarily closed while officers attempted to resolve the situation.
Marquis repeatedly refused to get out of the car. She eventually exited the car with the assistance of the State Police Crisis Negotiation Unit but resisted efforts to be taken into custody, police said.
After a K-9 unit was deployed, Marquis was taken into custody. She was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
Marquis was charged with felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, misdemeanor counts of disobeying an officer and resisting arrest and violations of reckless operation and operating without a valid driver’s license, according to State Police. Marquis was expected to be arraigned Monday in Hillsborough District Court.
