Why I’m voting for Molly Gray
Molly Gray is running for Lieutenant Governor, and she has my vote. Here’s my thinking. She was born in Vermont — in a farmhouse in Newbury. Reared on that farm — a dairy and vegetable farm. Went to public schools. Graduated from Oxbow High. Got a bachelor’s degree from UVM. Before graduation she worked as an intern for Senator Leahy. After graduation she worked as an aide to newly elected congressman Peter Welch. After a year with Welch, she was hired by the International Committee of the Red Cross and worked in places like Haiti and Uganda. After more than three years she returned to Vermont and earned a law degree from Vermont Law School (VLS).
After getting her JD she took a job with the Vermont Attorney General as an Assistant AG in the Criminal Division. She also taught Human Rights Law at VLS. She left the AG’s office to run for, and win, the office of Lieutenant Governor. Served in that office for two years. She knows the job.
Molly ran for Congress in 2022, but was beaten by Becca Balint in the primary. She was then hired as Executive Director of the Vermont Afghan Alliance to help resettle and assist the 650 Afghan refugees in the state. (I’m sure she deplores Trump’s termination of Temporary Protected Status for Haitian and Afghan refugees.)
Five years ago, Molly married Mike Palm, a commercial airline pilot. Two years later she gave birth to their son, Jack. And she helps care for her elderly mother who insists on living in the farm house where Molly was born.
Molly is smart, experienced, committed, and her heart is in the right place. That’s why I’m voting for her.
