Humanity and AI
In early June, AP reported that, “Anthropic is proposing that the world’s top artificial intelligence companies come up with a coordinated way to pause development of advanced AI systems, warning the technology is improving so quickly there’s a risk humans would lose control.” To learn more about how AI is and will continue to impact our lives, come to Osher’s Summer Lecture Series. Six experts will discuss the economic, environmental, medical, political, and ethical effects of AI on American society.
In the middle of the lecture series, there will be a companion workshop at the Hood Museum of Art to reflect on essential elements of what it means to be human: individuality, authenticity, creativity, agency, and social connection. Anyone who is signed up for the lecture series can register for this workshop, although space will be limited.
Osher is for everyone, as is this lecture series. To encourage local teachers, we are offering a special discounted rate for the series as well as recertification credit for all six lectures and the Hood Museum workshop, 14 hours in total. Because the topic of this series is so important, we encourage folks to become members and access the lecture series at a discounted rate. In celebration of Osher’s 35th anniversary, new members will also receive a discount on any course offered during their first year of membership.
