Fairfax, VT – Leslie Gibbs Cox, 74, passed away June 1, 2026 peacefully at her home in Fairfax Vermont. Leslie was born March 11, 1952 in Lebanon, New Hampshire to Harry Gibbs and Catherine Sornberger Gibbs.
Leslie was raised in Hartford VT, graduating in the class of 1970 from Hartford High School. Leslie received an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from Miami Dade College in Miami, Florida in May of 1973.
Leslie married the love of her life, Alan J Cox, on August 18th, 1973 at Saint Anthony’s Church in White River Jct, VT. Leslie and Alan made Rutland, VT their home where they raised their two daughters and started a business together. Leslie spent her adult life working as an accountant and secretary for numerous businesses in Rutland, ending it with their labor of love, VT Welding Supply Company, Inc which Leslie and Alan built together. They spent over 40 joyful years there before retiring and moving to Mesquite Nevada; returning to Vermont in August of 2022. Leslie was most proud of her two daughters and their accomplishments as well as her two grandchildren.
Leslie was a thoughtful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to those that were lucky enough to have known her. Leslie’s love of travel afforded her to visit numerous National State Parks with Alan by her side, many family vacations throughout the years and spending time in the summer in Maine with her grandchildren. Leslie made new friends and special connections wherever she was, especially the wonderful community at 15 Old Academy senior apartments. While living there, Leslie looked forward to weekly game nights, morning coffee and lobby visits along with community dinners and the annual Halloween candy haul given to hundreds of children.
Leslie G. Cox leaves behind, daughter Lisa A. Cox of Albany NY and daughter Karen and her husband Andrew Norris and grandchildren Lucas and Rya of Fairfax, VT. She is also survived by her brother Lester B. Gibbs of Hanover, NH, and her sister-in-law June Cox Looney of Rutland, VT and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Leslie was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Alan J. Cox, and parents, Harry and Catherine Gibbs,
