Canaan , NH – Lee Thomas Woodward, Sr., 86, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, at the VA in W.R.J., Vermont. Born on October 16, 1939, in Lebanon, New Hampshire, Lee lived a full and meaningful life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a passion for craftsmanship.
Lee graduated from Lebanon High School in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Shortly after completing his education, he answered the call to serve his nation as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. From September 9, 1959, to June 19, 1964, Lee served with honor during the Vietnam War and achieved the rank of Lance Corporal. His time in the Marines instilled in him a deep sense of discipline and commitment that would guide him throughout his life.
Following his military service, Lee embarked on a long and successful career at Split Ball Bearing as an Engineer, where he worked diligently for 37 years. Later in life, he continued to serve his community as a bailiff at the Lebanon District Court. He became a member of the Elks in May 1969, he was an exalted ruler for 2 years. His work ethic and dedication were evident in every role he undertook.
Lee was married to the love of his life, Sandra Mary Woodward, for an incredible 60 years until her passing. Together they built a life on Goose Pond filled with love and shared memories. He is survived by their three children: sons Lee Thomas Woodward Jr. and Kenneth Robert Woodward, and daughter Amy Lou Gallien. 4 grandchildren: Felicia Amador, Tommy Lee Woodward , Justin Woodward and Corbin Richardson. Lee’s family was central to his life; he took great pride in their accomplishments and cherished the time spent together.
A man of many talents and interests, Lee had a particular passion for restoring antique furniture. He mastered the intricate art of caning antique chairs and rockers-a skill that reflected both his patience and precision. His vegetable garden was another source of joy; it flourished with vibrant gladiolus blooms that added beauty to his home. Lee also found happiness in feeding ducks in his backyard and taking trips to Hampton Beach. His beloved beagles were constant companions who brought him endless delight.
Lee’s legacy is one of hard work, devotion to family, and an appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. Those who knew him will remember his quiet strength and the care he poured into everything he did.
May Lee Thomas Woodward Sr.’s memory bring comfort to all who knew him as they reflect on a life well-lived. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 28, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Lee Sr’s house 536 Goose Pond Road.
