HANOVER โ€” Police arrested a Dartmouth student last weekend after they say she drove a vehicle into the front entrance of a sorority house on East Wheelock Street.ย

The 22-year-old woman is facing a charge of DUI in connection with the incident, Hanover Police Chief James Martin stated in an email on Thursday.

Officers responded to Dartmouthโ€™s Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority house, 24 East Wheelock Street in Hanover, at around 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, for โ€œa reported motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle and a building,โ€ Martin wrote.ย

Upon arrival, police discovered that a 2017 Jeep Wrangler had collided with the โ€œfront entrance areaโ€ of the building, Martin said.ย Nobody was injured in the collision, he added.ย ย

โ€œSubsequently โ€ฆ (the student) was arrested for DUI,โ€ Martin stated.ย

Jana Barnello, a Dartmouth spokeswoman, declined to comment on the incident.ย

Efforts to reach Kappa Kappa Gamma this week were unsuccessful.ย

โ€œThe matter is still under investigation and more specific details are not available at this time,โ€ Martin said.ย

The student, whose LinkedIn profile indicates she is studying neuroscience at the college, was released on personal recognizance with a court date scheduled for Aug. 31 at 8:30 a.m. in the Lebanon District Division.
