A Poem: A Tribute to Cynthia

For eighty-nine years, Cynthia filled the world with love, light, and unwavering kindness. She lived a life rich with purpose and meaning, wearing so many roles beautifully-mother, wife, teacher, mentor, and trusted friend. Her wisdom guided those around her, and her quiet strength lifted both family and friends through every stage of life. Alongside David, her devoted partner of sixty-seven years, she built a life grounded in love, resilience, and deep connection.

From her beginnings in a one-room schoolhouse to her work connected to the United Nations, Cynthia bridged cultures and touched countless lives. As a military wife, she faced life’s challenges with grace, perseverance, and hope. Yet beyond her accomplishments, it was her joyful spirit that made her unforgettable. Her zany humor could brighten any room, turning ordinary moments into cherished memories. She loved the arts, Jeopardy!, music, Cheez-Its, and Pepsi, and somehow made even the smallest traditions feel special and full of warmth.

Most of all, Cynthia showed us what truly matters by the way she lived. Through every act of kindness, every word of encouragement, and every sacrifice made with love, she created a legacy that will endure far beyond today. As we raise a glass in her honor, we celebrate not only eighty-nine remarkable years, but a life that caught us when we fell, inspired us to be better, and reminded us that love-freely given-is the greatest gift of all.
