Mascoma boys win Wilderness League Meet
With 20 teams competing, the Mascoma Valley Regional High School boys won the Wilderness League Championship at Inter-Lakes High School over second-place Winnisquam by 30 points, 99 to 69. The Mascoma girls finished third, less than a point behind second-place Gilford, 56 to 55.33.
The boys saw wins by Barnaby Diehn in the shot put and discus, Sam Joyce in the 100 and 200 meters, and Reece Yorke in the pole vault. Joyce anchored a second-place finish in the 4 by 100 relay team with Alexander Deserrano, Ian Massecar, and Yorke. Placing second in the 4 by 800 relay was the team of Deserrano, Karson Rogers, Blake Howard, and Carl Russell, who also took third in the 3,200, with Sila Jukosy third in the 110-meter hurdles. For the Mascoma girls, Georgia Kondi won the shot put and discus, and Sophia Smith won the high jump and was second in the pole vault. Montana Ballard was second in the triple jump, and Lyla Jacobson was second in the high jump.
