RANDOLPH โ€” Tri-Valley Transit, the nonprofit public transportation provider for Addison, Orange and Northern Windsor counties, is expanding north into Washington County as of July 1, according to a Tuesday news release.

Tri-Valley Transit, which has an office in Randolph, will take over all Green Mountain Transit services in Washington County except for the express bus line running from Montpelier to Burlington.

“This transition is part of a larger effort by the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) to bring rural and small-town transit under the umbrellas of agencies with a long history of serving those areas of the state,” the release said. “TVT, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary of rural service, is well-positioned to become the transit operator for Washington County.”

TVT will also take over on demand rides for people to access healthcare “and other critical services,” but do not have transportation or access to set bus lines.
