Trump envies Iran’s regime
In a recent letter to the Valley News, Richard Bircher described a government that “transformed itself into an outdated, theocratic, repressive model of government, where organized militias maintain strict, cruel control over the entire general population, and the leaders are wholeheartedly committed to world wide militarism, menacingly coupled with nuclear ambitions and ballistic missiles.” I had to do a double-take to be clear who he was talking about.
To some of us, it appears that Trump’s main frustration with the Iranian regime is that they get to do all the stuff he wants to do: repress dissent, steal from the treasury, use terrorist proxies to help himself and his friends.
If we want to look like Iran and every other corrupt autocracy, we best ignore the details, collect our paychecks, and take a vacation. If we want to regain some semblance of a democratic republic, we best remove the war criminals who control our government as soon as possible and by any means necessary.
