East Thetford, VT – Charles “Charlie” Albero, 77, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2026, following a courageous journey with Alzheimer’s disease.
Charlie was born July 4, 1948, on an Air Force base in Wiesbaden, Germany, a son of Bartholomew and Claudia (Horb) Albero. He lived life as boldly and brightly as the fireworks that marked each of his birthdays.
A dedicated professional, Charlie worked for Toyota for over 50 years. A true enthusiast who fully embraced the brand, he fixed, owned, and drove nearly every model the company produced during his career. A man of many talents and strong determination, Charlie was also a skilled builder. He dug the foundation by hand for an addition to his home and built a beautiful double deck and pool area. His contributions to building the family camp, as well as his daughter and son-in-law’s home, were immeasurable.
Charlie and his wife, Betty, shared a love of travel and treasured bringing their children and grandchildren along on their adventures. He found his greatest joy in his grandchildren and was their biggest fan-rarely missing a sporting event and always cheering the loudest from the sidelines.
He also enjoyed volunteering at the VA Medical Center in White River, where he generously gave hundreds of hours of his time all over New England. Above all, Charlie was a man who showed up-for his family, his friends, and his coworkers. He found happiness in bringing joy to others and was known for his infectious belly laugh.
He is survived by his beloved wife and partner of over forty years, Betty Albero; his children, Stacy and her husband Joel, Stephanie, Rich and his wife Sue, Lisa and her husband Todd, and Amy; and his cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Taylor, Julianna, Elizabeth, Claire, and Elliot. Charlie also passed with the joyful anticipation of becoming a great-grandfather for the first time.
The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the staff of Grafton County Nursing Home, Maple Wing, for their compassionate care and attentiveness.
A visitation will be held from 3-5pm on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, followed immediately by a memorial service at 5pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601, or to the Grafton County Nursing Home, 3855 Dartmouth College Hwy, N. Haverhill, NH 03774.
