Stavroff named hockey All-American
Dartmouth sophomore forward Hayden Stavroff was named a first-team All-American by the American Hockey Coaches Association on Friday, capping a historic individual season.
Stavroff led the country in goals with 29 in 35 games and ranked first nationally in goals per game (0.83). The Columbus, Ohio, native recorded 13 multi-point games, including two hat tricks, and finished sixth nationally in points per game (1.37). He added 19 assists for 48 points on the season.
The honors continued a remarkable March for Stavroff, who was named Ivy League Player of the Year, ECAC Hockey Player of the Year (the first Dartmouth player to win that award), a top-10 Hobey Baker Award finalist, and the winner of the Walter Brown Award, also a first for a Big Green player. He was also named a New England All-Star by the New England Writers Association this week.
Stavroff is the first Dartmouth player named All-American since David Jones earned first-team honors in 2007. In 66 career games, he has 39 goals and 31 assists.
The award closes out a program-record season for Dartmouth, which won 23 games, claimed its first ECAC Hockey Tournament championship and returned to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1980.
Men’s lacrosse loses in OT to Brown
Dartmouth men’s lacrosse fell 17-16 in overtime to Brown on Saturday in Providence, dropping a game in which the Big Green led 15-8 late in the third period.
Brown scored a run of unanswered goals to take a 16-15 lead with three minutes left in regulation. Thomas Power tied it with 35 seconds remaining, but the Bears scored at the 3:29 mark of overtime to win.
Alex Jessey led Dartmouth with five goals and an assist, while Power added four goals and three assists. Stu Gates scored three times and Emmett Paradine twice.
Goalkeeper Max Becker made 12 saves. Jack Mulholland led the defense with four caused turnovers and four groundballs.
Dartmouth hosts Cornell on Saturday at Scully-Fahey Field, with faceoff set for 3:30 p.m.
Women’s lacrosse falls to Brown
Dartmouth women’s lacrosse fell to Brown 12-9 on Saturday in Providence.
The Big Green tied the game three times in the first half but could not sustain the momentum after taking their first lead, as Brown scored four straight goals in the third quarter to pull away.
Madeline Egan, Catherine Erb, Samantha Bennett and Mia Puccio each scored twice, and Charlotte Myers added a goal and two assists. Goalkeeper Ruby Lucken made eight saves. Dartmouth outshot Brown 32-27 in attempts and 18-14 on goal.
Maya Kendall recorded 13 draw controls, her seventh game this season with 10 or more. Lauren Riley and Ellie Burdick each had two caused turnovers.
Dartmouth was scheduled to close out nonconference play Tuesday at UMass Lowell, with the opening draw set for 6 p.m. at Cushing Field.
Baseball goes 1-3
Dartmouth baseball went 1-3 over a four-game stretch last week, falling to 7-18 overall and 4-8 in Ivy League play.
The Big Green dropped a midweek nonconference game at Boston College on April 8, falling 13-3 in seven innings. Stefan Di Corrado tripled in two runs and Milo Suarez drove in another in the loss.
Dartmouth split a home doubleheader with Brown on April 11. In the opener, the Big Green won 4-0 behind three home runs, including the first collegiate home runs for Di Corrado and Tyler Sirchia. Starter Nate Isler allowed four hits over six scoreless innings and surpassed 100 career strikeouts, and Mac Burke recorded his team-leading fourth save. Brown won the nightcap 13-3, scoring seven runs in the final two innings to pull away.
The Bears took the series finale Sunday 7-5 in Hanover. Sam Andersen drove in two runs with a single in the third inning and Taer Rodriguez hit his first home run of the season in the sixth, but Dartmouth could not overcome a five-run third inning by Brown. Nathan Matoush tossed 3.1 scoreless innings in relief.
Dartmouth hosts Siena in a nonconference game Wednesday before traveling to Harvard for Ivy League play next weekend.
Softball wins in walk-off on Sunday
Dartmouth softball went 2-3 over four games last week, including a dramatic walk-off win to close a home series against Cornell.
The Big Green opened the stretch Wednesday with an 11-2 run-rule victory at Holy Cross in six innings. Faby Serna hit two home runs and Lauren Ben-Ezra finished with a triple and two RBIs. Isabel Kirby earned the win, pitching 5.2 scoreless innings on two hits.
Cornell came to Hanover for a weekend series and took both games of a Saturday doubleheader. The Big Green fell 9-8 in the opener despite leading 7-6 in the fifth inning, with Olivia Schramm hitting a two-run home run and Cwen Wilson adding a solo shot. Game two went to extra innings with Dartmouth falling 14-9 in eight innings, despite Justice Malone’s three-run home run and a Georgia Bilski two-run homer in the seventh that tied the game and forced extras.
Dartmouth salvaged the series Sunday with a 15-14 walk-off win, erasing a three-run deficit in the bottom of the seventh. Sydney Herrmann drove in the winning run with a single and finished with three hits and four RBIs. Marilyn Beauvais hit the first grand slam of her career in the sixth inning, and Schramm went 4-for-4. Kirby earned the win in relief.
The Big Green host Brown in a doubleheader Saturday.
Football opens spring practice
Dartmouth football opened spring practice Wednesday in Hanover, with sessions scheduled three days a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5 p.m. and Saturdays at 10 a.m., through a May 9 spring game at Buddy Teevens Stadium at Memorial Field.
The Big Green enter the spring coming off a 7-3 season (4-3 Ivy League) in 2025. Returning quarterback Grayson Saunier passed for 2,143 yards and nine touchdowns last fall while leading the team with 11 rushing touchdowns. Wide receiver Ky’Dric Fisher is the top returning pass catcher after recording 21 catches for 341 yards and two scores as a sophomore.
Dartmouth lost its top five tacklers to graduation on defense, but senior Cameron Best-Alston (40 tackles in 2025) and safety Harrison Keith headline the returning group. Keith led the team with four interceptions last season. Defensive linemen Bruce Williams and Joshua Johnson also return for their senior seasons after combining for four sacks and 37 tackles in 2025.
The Big Green open the 2026 season Sept. 19 against defending Patriot League champion Lehigh.
Women’s rugby finishes second at Ivy 7s
Dartmouth women’s rugby finished second overall at the Ivy 7s Championship on Saturday in Cambridge, with the A side going 2-1 in pool play before falling to Harvard 22-5 in the championship game. The B side went a perfect 3-0 to win the Plate Division.
The A team opened with a 38-10 win over Princeton, led by Annie Henrich’s 11 points (one try, three conversions) and two tries from Marley Larkin. Dartmouth then shut out Brown 25-0, with Larkin scoring twice again. The Big Green’s only loss came against Harvard in pool play, also by a score of 22-5.
The B side defeated Brown 17-10, routed Princeton 30-5 with six different try scorers, and beat Harvard 24-19 to claim the Plate Division. Jordyn LeBeau led the B side throughout, finishing with 26 tournament points across the three matches.
Dartmouth now turns its attention to the 7s National Championship in Indianapolis in two weeks, where the Big Green will defend their title after defeating Life 31-0 last year.
Men’s tennis splits with Brown, Yale
Dartmouth men’s tennis split its weekend, falling to No. 38 Yale 4-1 on the road Friday before beating Brown 5-2 at home Sunday on Senior Day. The Big Green are ranked No. 71.
Against Yale, Dartmouth won the doubles point with victories on courts two and three, as Malhar Patel and Adrian Treacy won 6-3 and Kornel Halmos and Denny Bao won 6-1. Yale took four singles matches to clinch.
Against Brown, the Big Green again won the doubles point, with the No. 69-ranked pairing of Henry Ren and Miles Groom winning in a tiebreak and Patel and Treacy adding a 6-3 victory. In singles, Groom won 6-3, 6-1, Treacy took a three-set match in a 10-7 final-set tiebreak, Leo Pade won 6-2, 6-4 and Bao closed out the victory 6-3, 6-2.
Dartmouth travels to Cornell on Saturday before facing Columbia in New York City on Sunday, both at 1 p.m.
Women’s tennis drops two Ivy matches
Dartmouth women’s tennis dropped both Ivy League matches last weekend, falling to Yale 4-0 at home Friday and losing a tight 4-3 decision at Brown on Sunday. The Big Green fell to 13-7 overall and 2-3 in Ivy League play.
Against Yale, Dartmouth split doubles play but lost the doubles point in a tiebreaker before Yale won three straight singles matches to clinch. Peyton Capuano and Michela Moore won at first doubles, but Josephine Lombardi and Elise Wong fell 7-6 in the deciding match.
The Big Green led after doubles against Brown, sweeping all three positions, with Capuano and Moore winning their 15th doubles match together. Singles play went down to the final match, with Capuano winning 6-3, 6-1 at first singles and Lombardi winning at sixth singles to keep Dartmouth alive. Sam Grosjean won the first set of the deciding match 6-0 before falling in the second and third sets to give Brown the victory.
Dartmouth closes the regular season at home next weekend, hosting Cornell on Saturday and Columbia on Sunday, both at 1 p.m. Sunday’s match will serve as Senior Day for Valentina Cruz and Brooke Hess.
Women’s rowing runner-up at Yale
Dartmouth women’s rowing finished second to Yale in all contested events Saturday at the Class of 1985 Cup on the Housatonic River in Derby, Conn.
The Big Green placed second in the Varsity Eight (6:10.0), Second Varsity Eight (6:17.2), Third Varsity Eight (6:32.8) and Varsity Four (7:01.4).
Dartmouth hosts Northeastern at Lake Morey this Saturday.
Lightweight rowing races Harvard
Dartmouth lightweight rowing competed against Harvard on the Charles River on Saturday, racing in three events.
The Varsity 4 of Luke Olson, Theo Engleman, Gil Cavalieros and Tagg Clark finished in 7:19.910, just over a second behind Harvard’s A boat, though Dartmouth defeated the Crimson’s B boat by more than a minute. The 2V finished second overall with a time of 6:31.465, and the 1V posted a time of 6:16.783.
The Big Green return to Hanover this weekend to race Yale.
Women’s golf third at Rutgers Invite
Dartmouth women’s golf closed the regular season with a third-place finish at the Rutgers Invitational, with three players finishing in the top 10.
Olivia Cong led the Big Green, finishing fifth at plus-11 across 54 holes. Sophia Li finished one spot back in sixth at plus-14, shooting her best round of the weekend Sunday with a 74. Claire Wan rounded out the top-10 finishers, placing eighth at plus-16.
Dartmouth competes next at the Ivy League Championship beginning Friday, April 24, at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J.
Men’s golf ninth at Princeton Invite
Dartmouth men’s golf finished ninth at the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Club over the weekend, posting a score of plus-33 across the 54-hole tournament.
Tyler Brand led the Big Green, finishing 14th at plus-3. He closed with a 1-under round Sunday that included an eagle on the par-4 18th hole.
Dartmouth closes the regular season Saturday at the ROAR-EE Invitational hosted by Columbia at Wiltwych Golf Club in Kingston, N.Y.
Sailing earns top-five at NEISA Championship
Dartmouth sailing competed in two regattas over the weekend, finishing fifth at the NEISA Women’s Team Race Conference Championship and eighth at the Thompson Trophy.
At the Legler Trophy championship, the Big Green went 9-7 overall, going 6-3 in round-robin play with wins over Bowdoin, Brown, Coast Guard, Rhode Island, Roger Williams and Yale before posting a 3-4 record in the top-eight round.
At the Thompson Trophy, Dartmouth went 8-7, beating Boston College, Coast Guard, Yale, Rhode Island, MIT, Tufts, Bowdoin and Connecticut College.
The open and women’s teams return to competition this weekend, with the open team sailing in the Coast Guard Alumni Bowl at Brown for the Open Fleet Race New England Conference Championship and the women competing in the Reed Trophy at the Women’s Fleet Race New England Conference Championship.
Track and field competes at two invitationals
Dartmouth track and field competed at two invitationals Friday, splitting squads between the South Florida Invite in Tampa and the Friar Invitational in Providence.
At the South Florida Invite, Brad Chosewood won the discus with a mark of 47.93 meters. J’Voughnn Blake placed second in the 800 meters (1:48.54) and Jada Jones finished second in the 400 meters (53.41) and third in the 200 meters (23.72). Mariella Schweitzer placed fourth in the long jump (6.10 meters) and recorded a 13.64 in the 100-meter hurdles, good for second all-time in program history. Rebeka Zibritova ran 14.12 in the 100-meter hurdles, third all-time in program history, and 1:01.25 in the 400-meter hurdles, sixth all-time.
At the Friar Invitational, Noe Kemper and Connor Foley ran 4:05.02 and 4:06.55 in the mile, and Ashton Bange finished second in the 3,000 meters (8:23.23). Claire McDonald recorded a personal record of 9:53.19 in the 3,000 meters.
Dartmouth competes next Friday at the UConn NE Challenge and Sean Collier Invite.
