CLAREMONT โ River Valley Community College President Alfred Williams plans to retire in July.
RVCC, which serves more than 1,000 students and another 1,400 early college high school students each year, is based in Claremont, with academic centers in Lebanon and Keene. Williams has been its president since 2018.

In a news release this week, RVCC credited Williams with strengthening partnerships with health care institutions in western New Hampshire in support of the school’s nursing programs.
Also during his tenure, the school renovated classrooms and labs, including for a new radiologic technology program, and built stronger ties with Keene State College by placing its academic center on the Keene State campus and expanding programs that transfer from the two-year programs at RVCC to the four-year state college programs.
Before coming to New Hampshire, Williams worked in the Connecticut community college system. He is a Rhode Island native. Starting in January 2025, he also served as interim president of Nashua Community College, following the death of its president, Lucille Jordan, in December 2024.
