Topsham, VT – Fred K. Plaisted Jr., 90, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, one day after celebrating his birthday.
Fred was born on March 16, 1936, in Plymouth, NH, to the late Fred K. Plaisted Sr. and Doris Plaisted (Bruso).
Fred proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959. He spent much of his life in Plymouth and Lebanon, NH until he moved to Topsham, VT. He dedicated his career to life on the road as a long-haul truck driver, a profession he took great pride in. Over the years, he hauled cattle, freight, and lumber, working for Decato Brothers Trucking, Gomez Livestock Hauling, St. J Trucking and KNM Freight. Eventually, Fred fulfilled a dream by purchasing his own truck under Plain View Farm, where he continued hauling cattle. He was a life member of the Lebanon Elks Lodge 2099.
Fred is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Plaisted (Stevens); his children, Kevin Plaisted, Rod Plaisted (Elizabeth), Judy Thibodeau, and Michelle Balch (Kevin); nine grandchildren; Kallyn, Sarah, Nathan, Ben, Katelyn, Michael, Rebecca, Lyandra, Sara and fifteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Sam Plaisted (Becky).
In addition to his parents and stepmother, Marjorie Plaisted (Keniston). Fred was predeceased by his siblings, Daniel Keniston, Elizabeth Carter, and William Plaisted, and one grandson, David Plaisted.
Fred will be most fondly remembered for his contributions to the cattle industry, where he raised, showed, shared knowledge, and hauled cattle throughout the east coast and beyond.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
