Favor L. Jenkins

Wentworth, NH – Favor Leroy Jenkins passed on Thursday, February 26, 2026. He was born in Norwich, CT on July 14th, 1932. The son of Charles Favor Jenkins and Elsie Whipple Jenkins. Favor is survived by his son William Jenkins (Susan) of Fort Valley, GA, his grandchildren Tia Jenkins and Charlie Jenkins, both of Griswold, CT, step granddaughter Sarah Osgood of Albany, NY (who he looked forward to her daily 6:00pm phone calls). Also survived by his sister Norma (Polly) Conant of Thompson, CT and several nieces and nephews. Favor was predeceased by his first wife Marilyn Jenkins, second wife Arline T. Hill, sister Betty Coolidge and brother Albert Jenkins.

Growing up, Favor lived in Jewett City, CT, Lyme, NH, and Thetford Center, VT. After graduation from high school, Favor entered the US Air Force and served for four years at several locations. After his discharge he was employed at Pratt & Whitney’s Andrew Willgoose Labratory in East Hartford, CT as a test operator for jet engines where he devoted forty plus years of service. He retired to spend quality time with his brother Albert who was losing his battle with cancer. After Albert’s death and the untimely death of his wife Marilyn Jenkins, Favor sold his home in Connecticut and moved to his family property in Wentworth, NH, where he lived in a house trailer until a new home was built. Over time he built several outbuildings, one of which was his front yard sugar shack. He was a member of the NH Sugar Makers and processed syrup for several seasons. He enjoyed visitors and reminiscing at the sugar shack.

Favor always kept busy on the property and helped with community projects as needed, a few being the local Food Pantry, Warren Historical Society, the American Legion Race Track and the Wentworth, NH Veterans Park, where he has a stone monument.

Favor married for the second time to Arline T. Hill to whom he was totally devoted and cared for, only to find at the end of her life that she had deceived him all during their marriage and deprived him of all what was rightfully his and what was to be his son’s inheritance.

Favor was very grateful to all the family, friends and neighbors who cared and helped him during the last years of his life, a few being Debra Pepin, John Comeau, Adam the Mailman, Police Chief Wallace Trott, Mike and Sarah Vittum, the Pemi-Baker Hospice caretakers and Dr. O’Donald. Special thanks to full-time caretaker John Coolidge and daily caretakers Eleanor and Lewis Delsant. With everyone’s help, Favor was able to happily remain in his home to the end of his life, to which his family is sincerely thankful. A gathering in his honor will be held at later date.

Favor’s ashes will be buried next to his brother Albert at Evergreen Cemetery in Central Village, CT at his request.
