HARTFORD โ Amy Molina will be the next principal of Hartford High School, the School District announced last Thursday.
Molina, a current assistant principal at U-32 Middle and High School in East Montpelier, was one of three finalists picked to replace retiring principal Nelson Fogg.

“My 25 years in education have taught me that successful schools are built on a foundation of trust created by strong, authentic, and lasting relationships,” Molina, of Barre, Vt., wrote in a message introducing herself to the community. “I am committed to being a fun, visible, and present leader for the Hartford community as we work together to continue to provide the equitable, relevant, rigorous, and engaging learning experiences our students enjoy and deserve.”
She has been at U-32 since 2001 including as director of co-curricular activities, director of student affairs and assistant principal.
Molina wrote that she has a “personal motto” as an administrator: “Every kid. Every day. Every interaction. Every classroom.”
Molina was a college basketball coach before becoming an educator. She earned her undergraduate degree in history and was captain of the women’s basketball team at Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, Vt.
She hold’s a master’s degree from Canisius University in Buffalo, N.Y., and completed her teaching licensure requirements through the now-closed Goddard College in Plainfield, Vt.
A hiring committee spearheaded by Hartford Superintendent Caty Sutton and District Equity Coordinator Julia Lau chose Molina from a pool of 12 candidates for the job. Molina is set to start July 1, according to a job description for the position. The same description advertised a salary of $91,000 to $140,000 a year.
