Fairlee, VT – Judy Palmer, 79, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026, with family and friends by her side.
Judy was born in Rutland, VT, November 20, 1946, to William Sumner and Frances (Hornsby) Sumner.
Judy graduated from Woodstock High School, Class of 1965, then attended Champlain College in Burlington, VT, graduating with an Associate’s Degree in Accounting in 1967. Judy worked in the Upper Valley for A. B. Gile and Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital before retiring in 2005 from Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital.
She married Carroll B Palmer in 1973. Although, she had no children of her own, she gained a Step-Family that she shared loving memories with from her marriage with Carroll. They settled in Thetford Center, VT, before moving to Fairlee, VT in 1988. She was predeceased by Carroll in 1998. Also predeceased by her sister Jeanne Crane in 2002.
She enjoyed yard sales, camping and fireside company. Most of all, she loved her numerous small dog pets through the years.
She is survived by her brother- Andrew Sumner, sister- Carol Slocumb, as well as many nieces and nephews. Her Step-grandchildren, Sean Kuit, Bethany Moore and Dustin Hill and eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held at the Hale Funeral Home in Bradford, VT on Saturday, March 28th from 11am-1pm. Funeral services to be determined at the Thetford Center Cemetery in May for family. Memorial contributions may be made to any of your local Humane Societies on her behalf.
