NEW LONDON โ€” Voters at Wednesday’s floor meeting approved all warrant articles.

Among the articles voters approved was the appropriation of $142,000 for the hiring of a full-time firefighter, including salary, benefits and outfitting, starting on July 1. The ballot vote tally was 239-29. All future costs for the position will be included in the Townโ€™s operating budget. 

Voters also approved articles prohibiting โ€œKENO games within the town,โ€ 236-26, and prohibiting โ€œthe operation of games of chance,โ€ 236-33.

Also by ballot Wednesday, voters approved a $100,000 appropriation through a New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services Clean Water State Revolving Fund loan for the creation of a watershed management plan for Pleasant Lake.

Voters also approved a proposed general fund budget of $2.25 million; a public safety budget of $3.36 million; a proposed highway, streets and sanitation budget of $3.46 million; a proposed health and welfare budget of $343,000; a proposed recreation, culture and conservation budget of $1.11 million; as well as $571,000 to pay off long-term debt and $1.06 million for capital and non-capital reserves. 

There were 283 voters in attendance at Wednesday’s floor meeting held at the Colby-Sawyer College Hogan Sports Center.

At the polls on March 10, New London voters elected town officials and approved four zoning articles.
