Join the fight to retain your freedoms

Frequently I ask myself, “What freedom am I willing to give up?” My right to speak freely in public, text messages, on the phone? My right to vote absentee ballot or in person? My choice of medical doctors and prescriptions?

Recently a reporter on NPR  talked about asking a young Iranian, “What freedom do you want the most?” Their answer, “To be able to put my hand on a friend’s shoulder.” This reply stunned me! We are not talking about grandiose theoretical rights, ones we read about in textbooks. We face the potential loss of very personal human rights, ones that affect us daily in multiple ways. I don’t know what human right I am willing to lose first, but I do know I will protest for our freedoms as long as we have the right to protest!
