Yes on Signal Park’s public/private partnership

Thank you for reporting on the status of the proposed Signal Park project in Lebanon.

Drawing from points made in the article and what’s laid out in the master plan drawing, Signal Park has the potential to be a major win-win for the community and municipality in that it offers much needed housing combined with a wide array of recreational facilities including a baseball diamond, basketball and tennis courts, two soccer fields, a planned 200+ square foot indoor complex, and more.

Also, from a purely logistical view, the project looks to be highly suitable for its location with proximity to existing infrastructure and modes of transportation with easy access to Rt 120 and I-89, and walking distance to the Dartmouth Coach terminal. I would also expect that Advance Transit will include Signal Park in its future routes.

As a somewhat active and aging baby boomer, and one who would like to stay in the area well into retirement, all of the above make Signal Park a very attractive option for future community living.

The challenge and key to long term success of the project will be around housing’ i.e., how what is designed and constructed will meet the needs of the community, and ultimately how well everything is maintained and managed. I’m curious to learn more about the sustainability goals for the development and how its environmental footprint can be kept to a minimum. Seeing solar panels and “Sand/Battery Storage” drawn into the plan is encouraging.

Campion has deep roots in the area and I trust that Signal Park is a legacy project that has gone through a rigorous planning process and will be carefully implemented in its phased approach. Hopefully Planning Board approval is not further delayed for this public/private partnership project as proposed.
