Judith M. Kilton

Canaan, NH – Judith M. Kilton, 82, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Valley Terrace in White River Junction, VT. She was born to the late Chauncy and Rena (Wheeler) Smardon and grew up in Enfield, NH, where she attended local schools and built many lifelong friendships.

Judy married the love of her life, Grant Kilton Sr., and together they built a life centered around family, faith, and simple joys. She was a member of the South Congregational Church in Newport and valued the sense of community she found there.

Judy worked at Barbara Jean’s Clothing and Dot’s Bakery, where she enjoyed interacting with customers and coworkers. She was also dedicated to supporting young people in her community and volunteered her time as a Cub Scout leader.

Judy especially loved spending time in Maine, a place that brought her peace and happiness. She and her husband enjoyed traveling together and making memories along the way. At home, she found joy in quieter moments as well, particularly crocheting.

She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Anderson and her husband Richard; her son, Scott Alan Kilton; and her siblings, Pamela (Guy) Wilkinson, Robert (Carol) Smardon, Richard (Paula) Smardon, Terry (Jan) Smardon and Laurie (Jane) Smardon. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Nathan (Joann), Ashley and Richard Anderson, and six great-grandchildren, Addison and Ryker Henderson, Kaydence Anderson, Lizzy, Sandy and Michael Randall along with many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Grant A. Kilton Jr., and her husband, Grant Kilton Sr.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Valley Terrace in White River Junction for the excellent care, compassion, and kindness shown to Judith.
