Thetford invests in belonging
On behalf of the Special Needs Support Center (SNSC), I want to sincerely thank the town of Thetford for approving a $2,000 appropriation on Feb. 28. We are grateful to the Selectboard and to Thetford residents for investing in supports that help ensure people with disabilities and their families can fully participate in community life.
SNSC is based in White River Junction and has served the Upper Valley for 45 years. In the past year, SNSC provided 49 hours of direct service to residents of Thetford and East Thetford. That included adult programming such as Art Lab and Cooking Classes, along with youth enrichment through Aspire camps and activities that build friendship, confidence, and skills. Families also rely on SNSC for educational advocacy, including support navigating special education services and 504 plans.
The Town of Thetford’s appropriation helps SNSC continue offering these inclusive programs at no cost to participants. It also strengthens broader efforts that support accessibility and belonging across the region through initiatives like disability friendly certification, early childhood inclusion training, and community education.
We are deeply thankful for Thetford’s partnership and continued support. Together, we can build a community where everyone belongs.
