POMFRET — In ballot voting Tuesday, voters approved a 1% tax on meals, alcoholic beverages, rooms and most other sales, 270-80.

In a narrower result, 187-160, voters approved a measure allowing state residents who don’t reside in Pomfret to be elected or appointed to all town offices except Selectboard or justice of the peace.

Voters approved a proposed municipal budget of $2.15 million, $679,000 of which would be used for general expenses, and $1.46 million of which would be used for highway purposes.

In uncontested races, voters elected Benjamin Brickner and Marjorie Wakefield to the Selectboard. Brickner’s term is three years, and Wakefield won a two-year term.
