Articles of note: Voters will be asked whether the Selectboard should adopt a pledge that affirms “commitment to freedom, justice and equality for the Palestinian people” and pledges to work to end “Israel’s apartheid regime.” Other articles asks voters to approve a $6.36 million bond for water main improvements along Hartford Avenue and side streets and a $1.5 million bond to make water main improvements near downtown White River Junction.
Contested races: There are three people running for two two-year terms on the Selectboard: Ashley Andreas, Tim Fariel and Janet Sharkey Potter.
Budgets and spending articles: The proposed budget is $23.38 million, of which $17.18 million is to come from property taxes. Last year, voters approved a $22.47 million budget. The proposed school district budget is $58.71 million, which is up from a $55.1 million budget approved by voters last year.
When, where and how to vote: Town Meeting will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. at the Hartford High School auditorium, 37 Highland Ave. Voting on officers, budget, expenditures and the anti-apartheid pledge will be Tuesday, March 3 at the Hartford High School gymnasium from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
