We could all end up like Minnesota

I’m so proud of Minnesotans. They have taken to the streets peacefully to protect their neighbors. And even in the face of the murder and mayhem brought on by the President’s pet paramilitary group, they continue to act with skill and compassion, bearing witness to the work of evil in our midst.

The President and his administration, making plans in their racist echo chamber, thought that the white people of Minnesota would turn their backs on their brown and black neighbors. Trump and his lap dogs thought concocting a Somali daycare fraud story would be enough to give their ethnic cleansing campaign free rein. Apparently, though, when Minnesotans see fraud, they don’t see color. And when they do see color, they see their neighbors: doctors, nurses, fire-fighters, and police. They see themselves.

One of the most telling videos was when the white Brooklyn Park police chief, clearly distraught over ICEโ€™s actions, testified about his brown and black off-duty colleagues being targeted and having their civil rights violated.

Somali refugees have been living, loving, and lifting up America for decades. Trump and his pack of poorly-trained thugs with military gear wonโ€™t change that.

Minnesotans taking to the streets in a general strike and bearing witness with video have shown us the way forward in demanding accountability. We should take note. When Trump tries to disrupt the next election, regime change will be up to all of us.
