Please stand strong against GOP support for bullying
ICE and the Border Patrol are tearing our communities apart, and citizen opinion has swung from sort-of mixed to hardening opposition to authoritarian initiatives and increasing violence. The frightening scenes of masked, heavily armed soldiers and armament being deployed against our unarmed protesters are shameful, and will not be erased from our memory.
I hope Americans will continue to demonstrate widely and peacefully, and we need you to work on legislation that will help us “Live Free”:
- End Border Patrol deployments to our cities and reject Trump’s and oppose GOP’s overly harsh immigration enforcement.
- Restrict the ability of ICE and Border Patrol to target people based on their “race, face, or place.”
- Limit DHS’s authority to transfer funds for arrests and detention from other accounts.
Only by working together, here and now, can we prevent here what happened in 1930s Europe. We citizens will keep demonstrating, and we need you, our elected officials, to legislate as listed above, plus prohibiting any more funds for the GOP-authorized forces.
