Philip E. Anderson, Sr.

Franklin, NH – Philip E. Anderson, Sr., formerly of Canaan, New Hampshire, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the age of 98 years. He was born and raised in Brockton, Massachusetts. Mr. Anderson was a 1945 graduate of Brockton High School, then served in the U.S Navy for 27 months. He was a 1951 graduate of Eastern Bible Institute and studied with the Wycliffe Translators in 1951. Mr. Anderson began his Christian ministry in Brattleboro, Vermont, in 1952. He was ordained in 1954. He served churches in Newfane, Vermont; simultaneously in Haverhill, New Hampshire, and Newbury, Vermont; and preached in various other churches into his 80’s. He was also a gifted carpenter and woodworker.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 39 years, Dorothy W. Anderson, in 1990. He was subsequently married to the late Eleanor Lary of Canaan, New Hampshire, for 19 years. He was also predeceased by his son, Philip E. Anderson, Jr.; his sister, Eunice N. Anderson; and his brother, Robert H. Anderson. He is survived by his sister, Lois Gustafson and her husband, Rev. Kenneth Gustafson, of Union, Connecticut.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Eunice Robinson and her husband Dana of Madisonville, Tennessee; Jolene Bryant and her husband Robert of Belmont, New Hampshire; Lynette Roukes and her husband Christopher of Holderness, New Hampshire; Martha Richardson and her husband Calvin of Windsor, Connecticut; Ramona Player and her husband Michael of Concord, Virginia; by his son, Timothy Anderson and his partner Patricia Guitar of Enfield, New Hampshire; and by his former daughter-in-law, Catherine Anderson.

Mr. Anderson will be lovingly remembered by his 20 grandchildren, and his 25 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a sister-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

The calling hours for Philip E. Anderson, Sr., will be Friday, January 2, 2026, from 4-7 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, 11 School Street, Lebanon, New Hampshire.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Hill Village Bible Church, 36 Crescent Street, Hill, New Hampshire.

Burial will be in the spring at Oak Grove Cemetery in Enfield, New Hampshire at the convenience of his family.
