FAIRLEE โ Two Upper Valley towns earned grants for building projects from the state of Vermont.
Fairlee received a $500,000 grant from Vermont’s Community Development Block Grant program to put toward affordable housing projects, according to a news release last week from Vermont Gov. Phil Scott.
The money will go to Village Ventures, which is working to renovate and construct 19 units of affordable housing across two sites on Bridge and Main streets in downtown Fairlee.
The project, known as Bridge + Main, is projected to cost around $7 million, according to Jonah Richard, of Village Ventures. It is still in the planning stages.
Elsewhere, Corinth earned a $150,000 grant to put toward replacing a ramp to town hall. The town is currently in the process of renovating its historic town hall, which was built in 1912 and is located at 1387 Cookeville Road.
