WINDSOR, Vt. — Just about nothing went right for the Windsor High Yellow Jackets as they suffered a 48-7 loss to visiting Otter Valley in a VPA Division III matchup Saturday afternoon.
The Yellowjackets, who fell to 1-4 with the loss, struggled in all three phases of the game. Windsor punted six times, committed multiple turnovers and allowed a punt return touchdown.
“We had a good week of practice,” Windsor co-head coach Jamie Richardson said. “Coming into this game, I thought we’d be ready to go. We had a few guys get dinged up and a few guys sick in the first half, so that took a toll.”

Unfortunately for the homecoming crowd, Windsor’s offense continued to sputter and the defense could not slow down the Otters, who moved the ball effectively on drive after drive.
Otter Valley, which was D-III runner-up last season, led 34-0 at halftime.
Windsor avoided the shutout in the final minute after recovering a fumble near the Otters’ goal line. Quarterback Aiden Doxter, filling in after starter Turtle Petschke was injured, scored from a yard out to make it 48-7.

The loss marked Windsor’s third straight, and the Jacks have now been outscored 104-7 over the last two weeks. It’s a change of fortune for a program that won three straight D-III state titles from 2021-2023 and routinely was on the other side of lopsided results.
“We’ve got a team that’s a little different than what we’ve had in the past,” Richardson said. “We’re trying to adjust our practice plans and help them learn the game.”
Windsor will look to rebound when it visits Poultney next Saturday.
