Arnold Stygles
Orford, NH – Arnold Stygles, 65, of Orford, passed away unexpectedly
on September 20, 2025, doing what he loved, being at the racetrack.
Arnie was born on April 11, 1960, in Concord, VT to Ray and Eudora
Stygles. Arnie later attended Oxbow High School in Bradford VT and in
1975, Arnie moved in with Ralph and Liz who raised him as one of their
own. In 1985, Arnie married Jody Hurlbert; they shared 47 years
together before his passing.
Arnie had an intense love for racing which he spent many years doing.
Arnie raced for over 30 years and when he wasn’t racing, he was always
helping his grandchildren or his friend Jeremy Davis working on their
cars and go-karts. Arnie very much enjoyed time with his dog, Jake,
who went everywhere with him. Arnie looked forward to hunting season
every year, especially his hunting trips to Illinois and Ohio with his
friends and his two sons. During the warmer months, when Arnie wasn’t
at the racetrack, you could find him at the golf course with his sons
or grandsons. Arnie loved coaching and coached basketball for many
years. Arnie loved supporting his grandchildren, you could almost
always find him in the stands at one of their sporting events.
Arnie is predeceased by sisters Cheryl Clark, Susan Brann, Pammy
Jones, Theresa Piper and brothers Wayne Corliss, Mike Corliss, and
Bruce Stygles.
Arnie is survived by his wife Jody Stygles; children Jeremy Stygles,
Tyler (Mariah) Stygles; and grandchildren Colby Stygles, Gracie
Stygles, Carter Stygles, and Payson Stygles all who he loved so
dearly. Arnie is also survived by his siblings Sandy (Butch) Manning,
Ken (Coleen) Corliss, sister in-law Lynn Corliss, Mike (Wendy)
Stygles, Darcy (Wayne) Stearns, Melissa (Alton) Young, Ricky Stygles,
Tanya Gendron, Dawn Stygles and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, October 1st from 5-7PM at
Ricker Funeral Home & Cremation Care of Woodsville, NH. A graveside
service will be held at Sawyer Cemetery in Bradford, VT on Thursday,
October 2nd at 1PM.
