If there is any theme to be followed here in a life well-lived, is
that his roots ran deep in Lebanon, NH. The local Guyer-Carignan VFW
post is named for Bob’s uncle, ‘Pat’ Carignan, a bombardier in World
War One and the first soldier to die from Lebanon. Bob graduated
Lebanon High School in 1954. During high school Bob built a ‘Junk
Mobile’ that was featured in Popular Mechanics; thus began a lifelong
love affair with creative engineering. He married his childhood
sweetheart in Sacred Heart church on December 25, 1956, in a howling
blizzard on leave from service in the Army Cavalry Division stationed
in Germany near the Berlin Wall. They moved to the top of Methodist
Hill in Plainfield, NH before starting their family. His first jobs
were as a line man for a cable company and a machinist for Tool Tech
on Water Street. He went on to start Bob’s Sawmill with his wife and
family in 1973. Bob and Judy remained active alumni in the Lebanon
High School alumni association, attending every party and parade
possible. He loved to laugh, tell a good joke, enjoy nature, and meet
interesting new people. Fishing, hunting and telling stories remained
hobbies throughout his life. He is dearly missed.
