Menโs soccer ties twice
It was a week of ties for the Dartmouth Menโs soccer team. Last Tuesday, the Big Green went on the road and tied the defending national champion UVM Catamounts, 3-3.
Trenton Blake and Eidur Baldvinsson were key on the offensive end for the Big Green in that matchup, with Blake notching a goal and an assist and Baldvinsson scoring twice.
The Big Green followed up on their tie with Vermont with another deadlock on Saturday, 1-1, when they hosted Merrimack. Olly Spicer scored Dartmouthโs lone goal.
The menโs soccer team is now 0-1-3.
Menโs tennis opens season
The Big Green Menโs tennis team opened the season with the Dartmouth Invite, an event that spanned three days, featuring Brown University, Bryant University, and Fairfield University as opponents.
On Friday, the Big Green had five singles wins from Adrian Treacy (6-3, 6-4 – Bryant); Malhar Patel (5-7, 6-1, 10-4 – Fairfield); Leo Pade (4-6, 6-2, 10-5 – Fairfield); Miles Groom (straight sets – Brown); Denny Bao (6-1, 6-4 – Fairfield).
On Saturday, the Big Green notched six doubles and two singles victories. Groom and Pade (6-3 – Fairfield, 6-4 – Bryant); Bao and Kornel Halmos (6-3 – Bryant, 7-5 – Brown); Treacy and Patel (7-5 – Fairfield, 6-3 – Bryant); each had two doubles wins. Halmos (2-6, 6-3, 14-12 – Brown); Groom (6-2, 6-4 – Bryant) also picked up a singles win each.
On the final day, Sunday, Dartmouth secured four singles wins from Calvin Wang (4-6, 6-1, 10-7 – Brown); Pade (7-6(3), 6-4 – Brown); Bao (6-0, 6-3 – Fairfield); and Halmos (1-6, 6-3, 11-9 – Bryant)
Sailing has a strong weekend
Big Green sailing fared well over the weekend, individually and as a team. Alders Kulynych-Irvin and Ben Sheppard competed at the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association’s Singlehanded Championship. Kulynych-Irvin finished 10th in the womenโs conference championship, while Sheppard finished 16th for the men.
Additionally, the Big Green also picked up runner-up finishes at the Hatch Brown and Reigs trophies.
Womenโs soccer drops one game, ties another
On Thursday, the Big Green suffered a loss against Colgate University, 2-1, at home. Stephanie Lathrop picked up a goal in the contest, which was assisted by Kate Ryan.
Dartmouth followed up its loss on Thursday with a scoreless tie on Sunday when it traveled to battle Hofstra. Ola Goebel had three saves for the Big Green, who are now 3-2-2 on the season.

Field hockey splits weekend matches
Dartmouth field hockey began its week with a 2-1 home win over Maine on Friday in overtime. Ella Bowman scored both of the Big Greenโs goals; her second was assisted by Olivia Galiotos and Riley Dumigan.
The Big Green were unable to pick up another win on the week, falling to UMass, 3-2, at home on Sunday. Amelie Luessmann scored twice for Dartmouth during the game. Her first goal was assisted by Dumigan, while her second was assisted by Bowman and Georgia Thornton. Field hockey is now 2-1.
Volleyball competes at Boston College Invitational
Last week, the Big Green volleyball team traveled to Chestnut Hill, Mass., but was unable to secure a victory during their trip. Dartmouth dropped matches to Sacramento State, 3-0, on Thursday, UAlbany, 3-0, on Friday, and Boston College, 3-1, on Saturday.
Volleyball is now 2-4.
Golf opens its seasons
The womenโs golf team finished eighth overall at its opening tournament hosted by Georgia Southern, which ended last Tuesday. Sophie Thai finished sixth individually.
The menโs golf team opened its season at the Metropolis Intercollegiate tournament, which also wrapped up last Tuesday. The Big Green finished 14th. Tyler Brand led the Big Green and was tied for 44th individually.
