HARTFORD โ€”ย A Hartford man died after being pinned between two vehicles at the Hartford Recycling and Waste Management Center Saturday.

Around 11:40 a.m., Paul Smollin, 76, got out of his truck to check in at the recycling center, according to a news release from the town of Hartford. While standing behind his truck, a separate vehicle in line accelerated and he was stuck between the two trucks, causing a lower leg injury.

After the accident, Smollin was taken to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for treatment where he went into cardiac arrest and died at about 1 p.m.

The Hartford Police Department and Vermont State Police are investigating the incident, including completing a crash reconstruction. No charges had been filed as of Monday afternoon.
