First responders rescued a Lebanon man after he was injured while riding a bike in the White Mountains on Saturday, according to a news release from New Hampshire Fish and Game.

Andrew Merrihew, 49, was descending the Hurricane Trail in North Conway, N.H., when he had an accident on a section of loose gravel, according to the news release.

Merrihew, who was riding with friends, suffered a leg injury and was unable to reach the trailhead without assistance, according to the release. His friends were able to call 911 at about 4:30 p.m.

Conservation officers and emergency responders from North Conway reached Merrihew about a mile from the Black Cap Trailhead on Hurricane Mountain Road near the border with Maine, according to the news release. Rescuers used a litter to carry Merrihew to a utility vehicle that took him to the trailhead around 7 p.m.
