Lebanon 2, ConVal 1
Highlights: Ava Kaercher was dominant in the circle as the Raiders’ starting pitcher (7 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 17 K) in Sunday’s win in Lebanon. The pitching was strong on both sides thanks to the Cougars’ Sydney Borges (6 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 10 K. ConVal opened the scoring with a run in the second. Avelina Pentella singled to left field in the fifth for Lebanon, helping the Raiders tie the game. Kaercher led Lebanon hitting (2-for-3, 2 stolen bases). Pentella, Ella Reichert, Rya Wykes and Sophie DiDomenico each had a hit. The Raiders will travel to the NHIAA prelims for their next game on Wednesday.
Highlights: Oshoniyi and Lyndon’s Jackson Dwyer both threw very well. Lyndon jumped out to an early lead on first-inning doubles from Logan Wheeler and Wyatt Mason. Thetford brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh, but Farrell’s line drive into the right-center field gap was tracked down by Wheeler to end the game.

Highlights: Jack Lobb pitched four great innings of relief for Hanover, collecting the save. Jacobi Marotti led Hanover (2 RBIs), with Lobb and Daigle each contributing a pair of hits. Hanover will head into the NHIAA Division II playoffs as the sixth seed, hosting Plymouth on Thursday afternoon.

Highlights: Utell’s 8-0 win at No. 2 was the most decisive singles win as the third-seeded Raiders bounced the sixth-seeded Mountaineers from the NHIAA Division III quarterfinals. Hines and Breedlove both won long, tough 8-6 singles matches for Lebanon.

Track and field
Hanover girls third at NHIAA Division II state meet
With a deep and talented group of runners, the Hanover High girls track team finished strong in all distances on Sunday, leading the Bears to third place among 17 teams at the NHIAA Division II state track and field meet at Sanborn Regional High School.
The Bears’ Mary Westrich (400 meters), Lea Perreard (800) and Megan Faris (3,200) and the 4×400 relay team of Josie White, Alice Bell, Poppy Collins and Westrich all finished second. White was third in the 200 and fourth in the 400, with Aria Deeb fourth and Perreard fifth in the 1,600. Also scoring points for Hanover were Millie Larrick and Grace Stewart, who were third and sixth in the 3,200, and Natalie Wainwright, Zinnia Fuld, Heidi Davis and Ariella Hirschler with a sixth place in the 4×800.
For the Lebanon girls, Rowan Laundry was third in the high jump, Madison Garrow fourth in the triple jump and Ella Kerrin-Herrick fifth in the 100 hurdles.
In the boys competition, with 16 schools, Hanover’s Andrew Valentino won the 3,200 and Lebanon’s Nicholas Petrucci took the pole vault. Hanover’s Isaac McNaughton, Ben Groves and Safir Mehra were third, fourth and fifth in the 1,600 meters. Other results for Lebanon included Oscar Gulledge (fifth, 110 meter hurdles) and Elias Chaffee (fourth, 300 hurdles). Also for Hanover were Lional Ndong (third, javelin), Rhys Jones (fifth,400), Tanner Lahaye (fifth, high jump), Liam McConnell (fifth, pole vault) and Jones, Lahaye, Iain Greger and Garrett Fournier (4th, 4×400).

Mascoma boys third, Newport girls fourth at NHIAA D-III state meet
With 27 schools competing in both the boys and girls events, the Mascoma boys track and field team finished third and the Newport girls were fourth at Sunday’s NHIAA Division III state meet at Sanborn Regional High School.
Maddox Lovely led Newport with wins in the 100 and 300 hurdles. The Mascoma boys had first-place finishes in the shot put and discus by Barnaby Diehn and in the 3,200 by Gunner Currier. The Royals’ Colin Myers was second in the shot put and third in the discus.
Also helping Newport girls were Callie Dixon (second, shot put), Skylar Nelson (third, discus) and Torrence Williams (fourth, javelin).
The Mascoma girls finished 10th behind Georgia Kondi’s wins in the shot put and discus and a fourth place by Braelyn Stone in the triple jump.
The Newport boys won the 4×800 relay with Cayden Forand, Christian Forsythe, Bryce Palmer and Aaron Fellows, and Forand, Tyson Diapola, Aidan Couitt and Fellows were third in the 4×100 behind Stevens, which finished second with Owen Chapman, Jordan Foster, Aiden Pisani and Kieran Heath. Mascoma was fifth in the 4×800 and sixth in the 4×100.
Also for Stevens, the girls 4×100 relay team of Maddy Chambers, Faith Norton, Olive Jennings and Bella Bovell finished third, Chapman was fourth in the 100 and fifth in the 200 and Justin McGuire was fourth in triple jump. Newport’s Isaiah Nash took fifth in the shot put and Fellows fourth in the high jump. For Mascoma, Sam Joyce was sixth in the 100 and Carl Russell sixth in the 3,200.

Thetford’s Junker-Boyce sets state records at meet
Thetford Academy senior Uly Junker-Boyce set Vermont state records in winning the 100 and 200 meters at Sunday’s Essex Invitational Track and Field meet at Essex High School.
Junker-Boyce, who also won the long jump and was named the Athlete of the Meet for the track events, ran the 100 in 10.64 seconds and the 200 in 21.65 seconds. Both are state records across all Vermont divisions, Thetford coach Emily Silver said.
Hartford’s Ayodele Lowe, who won the high jump and finished second in the long jump, was named Athlete of the Meet for field events. Three other first-place finishes were Thetford’s Connor Sloop (discus) and Evan Rich (triple jump) and Hartford’s Matthew Tsouknakis (javelin). Rich was also fifth in the 100 meters.
Bennett Moreno of Hartford was second in the 800 meters with a new Vermont Division II record of 1:51.
Thetford’s Luke Miller had a successful afternoon, finishing second in the 400 meters and third in the pole vault and javelin. White River Valley’s Imari Taylor placed third in the shot put, fifth in the discus and sixth in the javelin. The first six finishers in each event qualified for the New England Championships on June 14th in New Britain, Conn.
Cassandra Armstrong of White River Valley was third in the 400 meters and fourth in the pole vault. Thetford’s Ava Hayden was third in both the 800 and 1,500 meters. Thetford’s David Stanger was second in the discus and fourth in the shot put, and Ellis Bogardus of White River Valley was third and sixth in those same events.
Brady Sloop of Thetford finished third in the 800 meters, MaCallister Gray of Sharon was sixth in the high jump, Sebastian Perdrizet of Thetford was third in the long jump, Hunter Clay of Thetford was fifth in the boys high jump and Hartford’s Jayden Forbes was fourth in the triple jump.
Thetford’s 4×100 relay team of Rich, Perdrizet, Emmett Terry and Junker-Boyce was third, and the Panthers’ Daniel Mann, Sloop, Miller and Jay Hill were fourth in the 4×400.
