WOODSVILLE — Haverhill schools were placed on lockdown on Tuesday morning after the Haverhill Police Department was notified of a threat a juvenile made toward a Haverhill police officer.
A suspect has been identified and detained, according to a news release from the Haverhill Police Department.
In spite of reports of an active shooter in the vicinity of Woodsville Elementary School on Central Street, police officers found no shooting occurred Tuesday and no injuries were reported. The school lockdown was lifted following a safety assessment of the area.
In addition to Haverhill Police, the New Hampshire State Police, the Grafton County Sheriff’s Department and other local agencies responded to ensure the safety of area schools.
The investigation is active and ongoing, but there is no ongoing threat to public safety, the release said.
