Article of note: One article on the town warrant asks whether voters support a $1.05 million plan to build a new town office building. Another town article would allow the Selectboard to appoint a road agent for a term of three years, rather than having the town elect one. Another town article would set the town clerk’s pay at $23 per hour. Another article asks whether voters will give the Selectboard authority to establish the opening and closing hours and dates of the Bean Brook Pool on an annual basis.
Contested races: Two people are vying for one three-year term on the Selectboard: Vincent Colasanti and Wayne Godfrey. Becky Ackerman is running as a write-in candidate for School Board.
Budgets and spending articles: The proposed town operating budget is $1.28 million, up from $1.19 million last year. The proposed school budget is $2.7 million, up from $2.67 million last year. The proposed sewer budget is $44,000, with the bulk of the cost to come from user fees and the remainder from the state.
When, where and how to vote: Ballot voting will take place on Tuesday, March 11 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Piermont Village School, 131 Route 10. Town Meeting will take place on Saturday, March 15 at 10 a.m. at the Piermont Village School. The school meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 18 at 7 p.m. at the school.
