SHARON — The School Board has scheduled three meetings in January to address the school budget and a possible bond vote in March for school facilities improvements.
The board announced Thursday that it is considering a possible renovation project for the elementary school involving the use of modular buildings.
“We are currently awaiting the results of a cost analysis,” the announcement said, “but it is possible that modular construction could save significant dollars, expedite the building process, and therefore have the construction timeline be less intrusive for the school and add a basement for storage and mechanicals.”
Last May, voters rejected a proposed $9.6 million bond for school repairs and renovations. That bond would have moved the pre-K program out of its aging modular building and under the same roof as the other grades. It would have upgraded the building’s heating and ventilation systems and brought the school into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The board has scheduled a meeting on Jan. 8 at 5 p.m. to discuss next year’s school budget and building needs.
On Jan. 14, the board will host a community dinner from 5:30 to 6 p.m. followed by a presentation and conversation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Child care will be provided.
A regularly-scheduled school board meeting will take place on Jan. 21 at 5 p.m.
