Claude E. Weyant is running a write-in campaign for the position of high bailiff for Windsor County. Weyant, 69, lives with his family in Windsor. Weyant discovered that there were no candidates on the ballot for high bailiff. Weyant is asking that voters in Windsor County write in his name.
The main responsibility of the county high bailiff is to take over the Sheriff’s Department in the unfortunate event the sheriff is unable to continue.
Weyant has 42 years experience in Law Enforcement. He has been employed at the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department for the past 23 years. Weyant is a retired captain at the Sheriff’s Department. Currently Weyant continues at the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy sheriff. His main responsibility is taking care of the department scheduling, and working at county courthouses.
Weyant feels that if he was ever needed, he has the knowledge to keep the department running smoothly, and provide the county with services it expects from the Sheriff’s Department.

Same name, different candidate
This will sound like I am looking out for myself and in a way I am. I am also looking out for my constituents in Sullivan County. I am running for reelection to the County Board of Commissioners in District 1, Claremont and Cornish. Current Commissioner Benny Nelson, of District 2, is in the middle of his four-year term, so he is not up for reelection and his name is not on the ballot this year.
With that said, an individual named Benjamin Nelson is running for District 1 in Claremont and Cornish. It is his right to seek this position, but because of name confusion I would like to set the record straight. Commissioner Nelson has endorsed me, as we work well together. My concern is that voters have the opportunity to vote for whom they expect a person to be. Benjamin Nelson deserves to be heard and to run on his own merits. All I ask is if this information has been informative you make a conscious effort to know who you are voting for. Thank you for your support and I ask for your vote in November for Sullivan County Commissioner District 1.

The election is just over two weeks away, and there are many important races to focus on. For the future of our kids and the well-being of local taxpayers, it is imperative that we replace Sen. Ruth Ward with Dave Trumble, and elect Jenny Ramsey and Nicki Murphy to the House of Representatives. The next two years will be critical with upcoming court cases on school funding, changes to the 306 rules, the potential increase in vouchers, and other anti-public school movements.
We need representatives who will not only protect our schools and our local interests, but as Dave Trumble eloquently puts it, will โinvest in them.โ
Ruth Ward keeps spending your money on private school vouchers. Only a small number of students are taking away tens of millions of dollars from our public schools. This is not how democracy works.
Please vote for Dave Trumble, Jenny Ramsey and Nicki Murphy and if you believe in democracy and common sense then vote the entire Democratic ticket.

Bidenโs economy
President Biden spoke to the Economic Club of Washington, D.C., on Sept. 19. Here is a brief review of some of his points as reported in โLetters to an American,โ by Heather Cox Richardson:
โThe Biden-Harris administration has insisted that all U.S. government contracts must use U.S. workers and U.S. products. With the CHIPS and Science Act, it brought back semiconductor chip manufacturing to the U.S., and private companies from around the world are investing tens of billions of dollars in new chip factories in the U.S. These are already employing construction workers and will soon employ factory workers. Factory construction is at a record high now. The Biden-Harris administration has created more than 700,000 manufacturing jobs.
โThey passed the Inflation Reduction Act, which will help cut carbon emissions in half by 2030 and is creating hundreds of thousands of clean energy jobs. That law also permits Medicare to negotiate drug prices with pharmaceutical companies, saving taxpayers an estimated $160 billion over the next decade.
โWith inflation under control and a record 16 million jobs created, the Biden-Harris administrationโs policies proved that itโs possible to bring down inflation while also safeguarding jobs and wages for American workers and promoting economic growth. A record nineteen million people have applied to start new businesses. More Americans have health insurance than ever before. The racial wealth gap is the smallest in 20 years. And rather than creating a recession, these measures kept economic growth above 3% last year. The stock market is at record highs.โ
These are the facts.
