NORTH HAVERHILL — A 77-year-old Hanover man has begun serving his prison sentence after being convicted for possession and distribution of child porn images and losing his appeal to the New Hampshire Supreme Court.
Roland Higgins began his sentence on Monday, the Grafton County Attorney’s Office said in a news release. The imposition of Higgins’ sentence had been held off pending his appeal to the state Supreme Court, which in May affirmed his conviction in Superior Court.
Following a bench trial in 2022, Higgins was sentenced in 2023 to four to 10 years in New Hampshire State Prison with one year off the minimum if he completes the sex offender program while incarcerated. In addition, Higgins received a six-to-12-year sentence, all suspended for 10 years, providing he abides by the terms of his first sentence.
