BRADFORD, Vt. — The Woodstock High football team steamrolled Vermont Division III rival Oxbow, 46-8, on Saturday. The Wasps improved to 6-1 and host undefeated and two-time defending state champion Windsor this week in the neighboring rivals’ regular-season finale.
“They’re all learning at least two positions,” said Worrell, whose team attempted only two passes Saturday. “They can move around as needed and they’ve had to. Every week the kids respond.”
WINDSOR — Seniors Brady Olmstead, Brody Osgood and Corey Lockwood scored two touchdowns each against the Minutemen (3-4).
Olmstead’s scores included a 65-yard run. Osgood added an interception and Lockwood also caught a 2-point conversion from Brooks Ruderman. Anthony Cook and Daniel Haugaard-Steffensen intercepted passes.
Windsor (6-0) finishes the regular season at Woodstock (6-1) on Saturday.
WEST CANAAN —The Royals (2-4) rushed for six touchdowns against the Bears (1-5).
Brody Goulette threw a touchdown pass to Colin Myers. Connor Hobbs rushed for two touchdowns and Gareth Brown, Cayden Marquay, Ethan Lewis and Tyler Jay Mardin each rushed for a score.
“We had an outstanding game all around,” said Royals coach John Daley, whose team hosts Newfound on Oct. 28. “Our defense was dialed in and prepared.”
NEWPORT — The Tigers (6-0) blitzed the Tornadoes (3-3) and are at Raymond (4-1) to conclude the regular season Oct. 28.
MANCHESTER, N.H. — Jaysen Oriol rushed for 197 yards and three touchdowns and Roger Lucas threw to Roy Lucas for 117 yards, four catches and two touchdowns to lead the Bears (4-2) over the Blue Knights (0-6) on Friday night.
Hanover’s Tanner Longmoore rushed for 91 yards on 12 carries and one touchdown. Roy Lucas and Ryan Ohern intercepted passes and Tristan Robles recovered a fumble caused by Mateo Trimble.
Hanover hosts Gilford-Belmont (3-4) this week.
WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Maddi Willey scored twice to lead the Hurricanes (10-2) past the Bulldogs (8-2-2).
Kamryn Brower scored early and Willey’s first goal, with Paige Trombly issuing the first of her two assists, created a 2-0, first-quarter lead.
Hartford went up, 3-0, in the second quarter on Madison Barwood’s 23rd goal of the season. Charlotte Jasmin also scored for the Hurricanes, who visit Rutland (3-8) on Tuesday for their penultimate regular-season contest.
CHESTER, Vt. — Finn Bailey scored for the Wildcats with Joey Ferris assisting. WRV is 5-6 and Green Mountain is 6-5-1.
“The boys played with enthusiasm and discipline,” said Wildcats coach Alex Montano, whose team hosts Rivendell (6-5-1) on Tuesday. “We suffered some injuries and face three games next week, so we’re hopeful of quick recoveries.”
HANOVER — Zach Tracy scored his team-leading 16th and 17th goals and added an assist during the victory over the Blue Devils (2-9-1).
Andrew McGuire scored his 10th goal of the season and Carter Guerin and Will Guerin each had a goal and an assist, giving the Bears a 5-0 halftime lead.
Veery Patel, Roan Palm, Henry Werner and Joseph Glass had a goal each during the second half.
The Bears (12-2) travel to Bishop Guertin (2-10-2) on Tuesday before hosting Pinkerton (11-4) on Thursday for the regular season’s final game.
WOODSTOCK — The Wasps overcame a 2-0 halftime deficit built on Raptors goals by Will Knowles and Jacoby Patterson.
Woodstock halved its deficit when Bode Wood set up Ezra Lockhart for a score 20 minutes into the second half. Wood scored the equalizer five minutes later and Lockhart notched the winner halfway through overtime off a Luke Hecker pass.
Rivendell (6-5-1) visits White River Valley (5-6) on Tuesday. Woodstock (6-6) hosts Stratton Mountain (5-0-1) on Wednesday,
WINDSOR — Audrey Rupp and Olivia MacLeay each scored three goals and Brianna Barton booted home the other two for the hosts, who swept their two games against the Wildcats this season by a combined 14-4.
Kenzie Wescott had an assist and Sophia Rockwood made four saves for Windsor. White Rivers’s Amara Calhoun-Flowers had a goal and Imari Taylor made seven saves.
Windsor (10-1-1) plays at home on Tuesday against Rivendell (7-4). White River (6-6) is home against Springfield (3-8) on Monday.
MORRISTOWN, Vt. — The Panthers matched their second-best offensive output of the season but fell short against the Wolves (2-9-2).
Kelsey Bogie had a goal and an assist and Zureal Star and Rebecca Osgood also scored, the latter goal producing a 3-3 tie with 3 minutes, 30 seconds remaining.
Thetford (2-10) hosts North Country (8-3-1) on Tuesday.
