TILTON, N.H. — Mascoma High quarterback Brody Goulette threw two touchdowns to Ethan Lewis and intercepted two Winnisquam passes to lead the Royals to a 36-21 victory Saturday in NHIAA Division IV football action.

“We were firing on both sides of the ball,” said first-year Mascoma coach John Daley, whose team won its first game of the season — and his first as a varsitycoach — while dropping Winnisquam to 2-4.

Damian Nestle rushed for two touchdowns and freshman Myles Wetherbee returned an interception for a touchdown for Mascoma (1-5).

“I had some freshmen make huge plays today,” Daley said. “Paxten Roberts, Wetherbee and Colin Myers shut down their passing game.”

Mascoma, 3-7 last fall, finishes its current regular season Oct. 29 at Newfound, which entered the weekend 2-3.

Newport 57, Franklin 0

FRANKLIN, N.H. — Seven Tigers ran for touchdowns against the Tornadoes (1-5). Newport led, 49-0, at halftime.

Kyle Ashley, Eric Wilkinson, Tyler Gobin, Amilio Urista, Darren Janicke, Tim Fratzel and Kobie Curtis all scored for the Tigers (5-1), who are off until their final regular-season game on Oct. 29 against Raymond.

Hillsboro-Deering/Hopkinton 20, Lebanon 14

HILLSBORO, N.H. — The Raiders trailed, 20-0, after three quarters before scoring for the first time since the season’s opening week. HDH is 2-5.

Lebanon (0-7), which received touchdowns from freshman Ryan Lundrigan and senior Tanner Ames, hosts John Stark (3-4) on Friday. The Generals have won three consecutive games.

Boys soccer Woodstock 3, Hartford 2 (OT)

WOODSTOCK — Declan McCullough scored off an Ezra Lockhart assist to hand the Hurricanes their first loss. Lockhart also assisted on Bode Wood’s goal with less than a minute remaining in the second half to send the VPA Division II contest to overtime.

McCullough scored a first-half goal, but Hartford (11-1-0) struck twice during the second half’s final 10 minutes. Woodstock (8-4-0) hosts Burr & Burton (5-6-1) on Tuesday, the same day Hartford visits Division I Rutland (4-7-0).

Girls soccer Hanover 3, Manchester Central 0

HANOVER — The Bears (7-7) used a successful Riley McGuire penalty kick during the first half and second-half tallies from Reese Hamlin and Maeve Lee to drop the Little Green to 0-14-0.

Windsor 3, Green Mountain 1

CHESTER, Vt. — Olivia MacLeay’s hat trick pushed the Yellowjackets (10-2-0) past the Chieftains (6-6-0).

Green Mountain cut its deficit to 2-1 with four minutes remaining.

Windsor’s Audrey Rupp had two assists, Skylar Thibodeau had one and Sophia Rockwood made seven saves for Windsor, which visits Stratton Mountain on Wednesday.

“It was a tough, physical game,” said Windsor coach Jeff Bachey. “Credit to GM for keeping the pressure on, but my team managed to kept fighting and secure the win.”

Thetford 3, Lyndon 0

THETFORD — The Panthers broke through for their first win of the season and improved to 1-11-0, dropping the Vikings to 0-11-1.

Thetford is at Lamoille (2-10-0) on Tuesday.

Oxbow 1, Winooski 0

BRADFORD, Vt. — Rose Bohan’s goal off a Hadlee Allen assist was the difference. A second-half penalty kick attempt for the Spartans (0-11-0) sailed wide, and MaKenna Simmons made three saves for the hosts to earn the shutout.

Oxbow (2-6-3) visits Rivendell (5-8.) on Tuesday.

GMVS 4, Hartford 2

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Senior Bella Boeri scored her first varsity goal during the Hurricanes’ regular-season finale against Green Mountain Valley.

Izzy Sirois had a goal and Braelyn Park an assist for Hartford (1-11-0). Coach Jeff Acker said Harper Fallon and Faith Brown played excellent defense with two starters missing.

“The only silver lining to our struggles is that kids are getting opportunities they wouldn’t normally get, and they are making the most of them,” Acker said.

White River Valley 11, Bellows Falls 1

WESTMINSTER, Vt. — The Wildcats received a goal and four assists from Jillian Barry and two goals from Amara Calhum-Flowers to jump to 9-2-1.

Bellows Falls (0-12-0) scored its first goal of the season. WRV hosts Green Mountain (6-6-0) on Thursday.

Field hockey Mascoma 5, Littleton 1

LITTLETON, N.H. — Freshman Makenna Houston scored four goals and Carmen Zani produced a goal and an assist for the Royals (7-6-1) in their regular-season finale. Ann Buffington and Myah Crandall had assists.

Burr & Burton 2, Hartford 1

MANCHESTER, Vt. — The Bulldogs (7-4-1) scored the winning goal with three minutes to play against a visitor reduced by illness.

Madison Barwood scored off a penalty corner to pull Hartford into a 1-1 tie. Madison Willey earned the assist.

Hartford (9-2-1), which has lost its last two games, each by one goal, is at Rutland (1-9-1) on Tuesday for its penultimate game of the regular season.

Woodstock 5, Otter Valley 1

WOODSTOCK — The Wasps (10-1-0) surrendered the game’s first goal but scored the remainder, receiving two tallies each from Norah Harper and Lily Gubbins. Hannah Gubbins produced a goal and an assist.

The Otters dropped to 8-4-0.

Fleur Smeyers had an assist for Woodstock, which received 12 saves from Audrey Emery and visits Burr & Burton (7-4-1) on Tuesday.
