FAIRLEE — Hanover High senior Dylan Jopp shot a 5-over-par 39 to lead the Bears to a second-place finish in their season-opening, four-team NHIAA Division I golf match at the Lake Morey Resort on Thursday.

Hanover edged Nashua North, 209-210, for second, with Exeter winning with a 183. Manchester Central finished fourth at 216.

Hanover junior Adam Goodney and freshman Andrew Cramer both shot a 40 for the team’s other top scores.

Hanover coach Patrick Pelletier, making his debut in charge of the Bears, said he was pleased with his team’s performance, as six of the nine Hanover golfers this fall are new and five of them played their first match

“We have a bunch of new faces, so this was a good start,” Pelletier said.

Hanover will look to extend it with another home match set for Wednesday, with Londonderry, Bishop Guertin and Manchester Memorial.
