VERSHIRE — Vermont Fish and Wildlife warns that several cliffs and overlooks are closed so that peregrine falcons can nest undisturbed by humans. In the Upper Valley, Eagle Ledge in Vershire and the cliff top at Fairlee Palisades in Fairlee are both closed.

“Peregrine falcons are very sensitive to human presence during their breeding season, so we ask climbers and hikers to please maintain a respectful distance from all nests,” said Doug Morin, a Vermont wildlife biologist. The birds were removed from state endangered species list in 2005.

If you see any nesting peregrines, you can report your sightings to Margaret Fowle, a conservation biologist at Audubon Vermont, at margaret.fowle@audubon.org.
