WOODSTOCK — The top-seeded Woodstock High girls hockey team was relentless from the first puck drop in a 4-0 win over visiting Harwood in the VPA Division II semifinals on Friday night at Union Arena.

The Wasps (20-1-0) held a 41-6 advantage in shots on goal, with the score kept respectable in large part to an inspired effort by Harwood goaltender Jordan Hunter (37 saves).

Skylar Haley got Woodstock on the board in the first period, scoring with an assist to Maggie Mello. Isabel Konijnenberg then added a pair of goals, one in the second and one in the third. Hannah Gubbins and Gracelyn Laperle had assists. Freshman Kassidy Haley added the final strike to close out the third period, assisted by Konijnenberg.

Meridian Bremel made five saves in goal for Woodstock, which now looks forward to a rubber-game matchup with Hartford in the D-II state championship game on Monday at 6 p.m. at UVM’s Gutterson Field House. The Hurricanes (19-3-0) handed Woodstock its only loss this season, a 4-3 win at Wendell A. Barwood Arena to close the regular season on Feb. 23.

“Great all around team win for Hanover,” head coach John Dodds said. “We had strong two-way hockey from all three lines.”

HARDWICK, Vt. — The Yellowjackets’ season came to an end with a loss at No. 2 seed Hazen in the VPA Division III quarterfinals.

The win also marks the final game for the coaching duo of Harry Ladue, as head coach, and assistant coach Don Swinyer. The two have been partners for 39 years and are now retiring.

Tenth-seeded Windsor held tight through the first half, trailing 25-21 at the break, before Hazen pulled away. The Yellowjackets (9-12) will graduate Kaleb Swett, Austin Gauld, Ben Gilbert, Caleb Buchanon and Dalton Clifford.

ORFORD — The undefeated and top-seeded Raptors had little trouble dispatching Proctor in the VPA Division IV quarterfinals.
