Orford

Article of note: Last year, debates over road maintenance and equipment dominated Orford’s in-person Town Meeting, and the 2022 warrant shows roads are still a hot topic. Voters will decide whether or not to raise $250,000 to reclaim and pave River Road as well as several other roads in disrepair. Orford will also vote on an article to establish an Orford Town Road Committee, whose members would be appointed by the Selectboard.

Contested races: The three-year term on the Selectboard and the three-year term on the Planning Board are both contested races.

Budgets and spending articles: Voters will be asked to approve a $1,203,037 operating budget as well as $372,655 in payments into capital reserve funds. $123,600 would go toward the road improvement capital reserve fund.

When, where and how to vote: Voters will meet at the Rivendell Academy Gymnasium on Tuesday, March 8, at 7:00 p.m. Absentee ballots are available from the town clerk. They must be returned by March 7 at 5:00 p.m.
