Article of note: Voters will be asked to authorize the Selectboard to borrow as much as $270,000, for a period not to exceed seven years, to buy a new fire truck for the Ascutney Volunteer Fire Association. The new tanker would replace a 1995 pumper. It would cost no more than $325,000. To cover the difference, the association would also sell an older fire engine and use $50,000 of the funds set aside for the fire association.

Contested races: The races for the two-year and three-year seats on the Selectboard are both contested.

Budgets and spending articles: Voters will be asked to approve the budget for the upcoming fiscal year. $1,075,448 for the townโ€™s general fund as well as $930,341 for the highway fund would be raised by taxes.

When, where and how to vote: Weathersfield will be holding a virtual town meeting because of the COVID-19 pandemic. A meeting on the 16 articles up for votersโ€™ consideration will be held on Saturday, Feb. 26, at 12:30 p.m. on Zoom. A link is available on the townโ€™s website. Voting by Australian ballot will be held at Martin Memorial Hall, 5259 U.S. Route 5 in Ascutney, on Tuesday, March 1. The polls will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
