HANOVER — The Dartmouth College men’s basketball team doubled its Ivy League win total in one weekend, beating Cornell on Friday behind a dominant second half and blowing out Columbia on Saturday for its most lopsided conference victory since 1997.
The Big Green (7-15, 4-7 Ivy League) trailed the Big Red by two at halftime but controlled the second half for a 71-59 win. Junior forward Dame Adelekun had a career night, with 19 points on a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor. Fifth-year forward Aaryn Rai added 12 points and 11 rebounds, and senior guard Taurus Samuels had 12 points as well.
The next night, Dartmouth routed the last-place Lions, 79-50, in a game it controlled from tip to buzzer. Graduate guard Brendan Barry scored 18 points on 6-of-11 from 3-point range. The Big Green led by 19 at the break and only added on from there.
“We had to continue to respond after our loss last weekend, and I thought the guys did,” Dartmouth head coach David McLaughlin said. “Especially with back-to-back games, we needed to be the tougher team, and our guys really competed right off the bat. When you are sharing the juices, moving the ball quickly and shots start falling, it just becomes contagious. Guys coming off the bench were getting stops, making shots, and all of that energy can be contagious.”
The Big Green host Yale in a makeup game on Tuesday night, then welcome Penn to Leede Arena for Senior Day on Saturday.
Every game is critical, as Dartmouth fights for a top-four spot in the standings and a berth in the Ivy League tournament.
Dartmouth (3-21, 2-10 Ivy League) picked up its second league victory on Friday with a 67-64, overtime win at Cornell, then fell 66-42 at Columbia the following day.

HANOVER — It took more than 58 minutes of game action, but the tennis balls finally rained down at Thompson Arena.
One of college hockey’s strangest traditions — Dartmouth students throwing tennis balls onto the ice for the Big Green’s first goal when they play Princeton — was back at last as Dartmouth (6-18-3, 5-13-2 ECAC Hockey) broke through on freshman Braiden Dorfman’s goal with less than two minutes to go. The Big Green added an empty-netter by freshman Sean Chisholm for a 2-0 victory on Saturday night.
The win followed Friday night’s 5-0 loss to the No. 5 Bobcats in which Dartmouth was out-shot 29-12.

The Big Green (9-19-1, 3-18-1 ECAC Hockey) took the lead in the first period against the Engineers on sophomore Annie King’s goal, then scored twice more in a 28-second span in the second period. DURHAM, N.H. — The Big Green (1-0) overcame a slow start to rout the in-state rival Wildcats in their first official game since March 7, 2020.

Six different players scored for the Big Green — freshman Colin McGill, fifth-year Matt Paul, junior Tommy Rogan, sophomores Henry Bonnie and Nate Davis and senior Foster Burnley. Dartmouth did end up with more shots on goal, 27-24. Senior Daniel Hincks made 16 saves. Next for the Big Green is a trip to Bryant on Saturday.

Dartmouth did not win a set in a 4-0 loss to the Lions and dropped the doubles point against the Bulldogs. Senior Pierce Widdecombe, junior Dominik Pauli and freshman Alex Knox-Jones all won their singles matches against Yale, but freshman Carlos Guerrero Alvarez could not pull it out in the decisive match at No. 1 singles.
On Sunday, though, the Big Green got singles victories from Gurerro Alvarez, junior Anders Gibbons, sophomore Andy Ilie and freshman Daniel Webb in a 4-2 win.

Those came from senior Jack Bell at No. 3, freshman Mac Aube at No. 5, freshman Quintin Campbell at No. 8 and sophomore David Rubin at No. 9. Only senior Tucker Martino, at the No. 7 position, went the full five sets.
Aube recorded the only Dartmouth victory against the Big Red, winning in four sets.
